We are looking for a skilled, dedicated person to fill the position of Assistant Controller at our Moncton, NB Head Office.

Purpose:

Works under the direction of the Controller to manage accounting activities in accordance with Dealership policies, procedures, and requirements including the preparation of financial reports and summaries to support the business.  Where requested, help to attract, retain, and effectively engage department personnel.

 

Responsibilities:

Supports the Controller in all functions of the position, either assisting or taking ownership of tasks as directed.

Reviews accounting activities to ensure that financial processes and information are accurate, timely, and contain adequate internal controls
Assists the Controller in preparation of the budget including performing financial analysis and miscellaneous requests for information
Reviews reports to analyze projections of sales and profit against actual figures, reviews budgeted expenses against actual totals, and suggests methods of improving the budget planning process as appropriate
Monitors dealership financial metrics
Assist the Controller in month end and year end procedures.
Preparation of financial reports including income statements, balance sheets, reports to stakeholders, and reports for governmental regulatory agencies
Reconciles applicable John Deere accounts in the general ledger (John Deere statements, rentals, reserve accounts, etc.)
Analyzes company operations to identify opportunities for reduction of expenses
Assists in managing the annual audit procedures
Monitors and makes recommendations on internal controls and processes
Assists in recruiting, staffing and employee development activities for the Accounting Department
 

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:

3+ years’ experience in financial management or accounting
Understands financial concepts such as budgets, Return on Investment (ROI), Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), and Net Operating Return on Assets (NORA)
Knowledge of financial principles required for budgeting and strategic planning
Understands financial statements, cash flow, and key financial ratios
Understands the integrated systems of internal control and the relationship to disclosure and financial reporting
Proficient with accounting systems and in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Bachelor’s Degree in an Accounting/Finance/Business discipline or equivalent experience required. Master’s degree in accounting/Finance or Business Administration preferred
CPA designation
