2023 Agricultural Workforce Survey

Surveys are an important tool that help drive the future direction of the Agricultural Workforce Development Strategy

This yearly survey allows us to gather insight from the large number of farmers across New Brunswick who operate such diverse farms of various sizes.

While the needs across commodities may differ in many ways, we have the common challenge of recruitment and retention which the Workforce Development team at AgriNB works to address.

Through your important responses to the survey questions, we can learn more about your opinions, fine-tune our projects and bring your voice to the conversations that are happening behind the scenes to address the problems we all face with agricultural workforce needs.

Conducting this survey year after year, allows us to uncover the answers to big questions we have such as hiring and training needs, challenges you face, and programs you hope to see in the future. We are able to make decisions on the direction of the programs we create, such as the upcoming Shared Workforce Pilot Program, the future mentorship program, resources to be shared on the website, and more. Additionally, we can compare the results year after year to see where we are making progress or where gaps continue to exist.

We collect this information while you to remain anonymous. This allows you to provide the open and honest feedback we need to make the decisions about programs related to workforce development.

This year we hope to hear what you have to say.

We thank you for your time and for sharing your voice with us.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an online survey?

An online survey is a questionnaire hosted on a website. We use SurveyMonkey to do this which allows us to gather the feedback without a connection to the respondent’s name, contact information or personal details. The survey is designed to gather responses to topics related the Workforce Development Strategy which is the core focus for our program. Online surveys are quick and easy to complete from your phone, desktop computer or tablet and will be available in both French and English. This allows us to gather all the information in one place and have Viminio Recherche et Analyse conduct an analysis on the results.

How does the process work?

The survey is created by the Workforce Development team with the support of Viminio Recherche et Analyse and is then approved by the Workforce Development Steering Committee. The approved survey is hosted on SurveyMonkey.

After the responses are gathered, Viminio Recherche et Analyse will conduct a review of the feedback and provide a report to the Workforce Development team who will compare those details to the previous year survey. Through ongoing conversations with the Steering Committee and other groups, the Workforce Development team will approach decisions and future project requests based on the feedback from the industry.

Will my personal information be shared?

Your responses will be treated as completely confidential, which means that AgriNB will not be able to identify you by name or any other information in its database. Only anonymous results will be published to share trends highlighted by the results.

Some survey questions invite you to enter your email if you are seeking more information. Please be assured that only your email address and your request for information will be communicated by VIMINIO to AgriNB and cannot connect you to answers shared in any other question throughout the survey.

How long will this take?

This survey should only take 25 minutes to complete. To thank you for completing the survey, you will have the option to enter your name in a draw for a $150 gift card.

Why should I respond to the survey request?

Your voice is incredibly important to the work that we do. We base decisions for programs and conversations from the data we receive from the survey report. Without adding your voice to the survey, we won’t have a true idea of what the industry wants and needs from the Workforce Development team.
